Energy Resources:

The energy industry plays a critical role in the Texas economy. The strength of the state’s economy depends upon reliable and affordable energy supplies. As the state’s population increases and its economy grows and evolves, it is vitally important to continue meeting this demand.

Texas is blessed with both the natural resources and human resources to more efficiently use our current energy sources while new power supplies are developed, including the renewable and clean fuel sources that exist in the winds of the Panhandle, West Texas

and Gulf Coast, the sunshine of West Texas, the forests of East Texas and the uranium of South Texas that can be enriched to fuel nuclear reactors.

Texas is uniquely positioned to lead the way in developing new technologies that will allow us to use fossil fuels in a more efficient, environmentally friendly manner; to make the technological advances necessary to make better use of our abundant renewable resources; and to reduce the demand for energy though efficiency gains.

Texas’ wealth of energy resources, tapped and untapped, include:
• Oil
• Gas
• Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
• Coal
• Nuclear
• Wind
• Solar
• Biomass
• Biodiesel
• Wood
• Geothermal
• Hydrogen
• Efficiency and Conservation
