Today, Texas entrepreneurs and innovators, and to a lesser extent government, are focused on developing the new alternative energy future. The Texas model promises to provide a global energy blueprint.

Texas possesses all the ingredients to develop the new energy future. Not only do we have vast resources, we have the researchers, the technology, the entrepreneurs and the leadership to reach that goal.

We can get there by applying advanced technologies to existing oil, natural gas, nuclear, biomass and coal and other carbon-based fuel sources as a bridge to that future.

The challenge is to develop the technology and to foster the innovations that will bring us to the alternative energy future.

That work is already under way in Texas where we are developing the cutting edge of new energy technologies and we are pioneering production technology for established resources.

But alternative energies require time, money and technology to achieve commercial scale. During this transition, we will need all our existing fuel sources to provide a stable bridge to the new alternative energy future.
