Energy Efficiency:

The Foundation will be actively engaged in the effort to develop and promote energy efficiency.

Reducing consumer energy demand and consumption are the quickest and often lowest-cost method for meeting short-term power needs, according to the Texas Comptroller, The Energy Report, May 2008.

These include:

Energy-efficiency programs for building retrofits, new home construction, more efficient appliances.

Demand-response programs that shift electricity use to off-peak hours.

Smart grids that provide consumers with real time information on electricity use and cost and provide options for reduced use and cost.

Smart appliances programmed to run at off-peak hours and when renewable energy is more readily available.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles, and compressed natural gas fleets.
